As states expand the eligible diagnosis for medicinal marijuana and legalize adult-use cannabis, state insurance trade associations can play a key role with their members to prepare for the inevitable: providing coverage for the costs of medical use of cannabis. Whether it’s reimbursing an injured worker’s comp claim or covering the treatment for an auto accident victim, admitted carriers need to be thinking about how they will provide coverage when the Federal government or Congress makes accommodations and states look to mandate coverage. This panel will prepare the state trades to spark up a conversation with their members.
